Meghan Markle Made One Last Check-In at an Animal Charity Before Heading to Canada

It's no surprise that Meghan Markle is an animal lover. But it is surprising to see that she made one last check-in at an animal welfare charity before setting off to start her new life in Canada with her family.

On Wednesday (January 22), a new post via the official Sussex Royal Instagram account revealed that Meghan had gone on a private visit to Mayhew, an important animal organization, and spent some time with a few of the dogs there.

During the excursion, the Duchess donned an elegant Massimo Dutti navy blue wool coat to shield her from the cold with a striped blouse beneath.

In one shot, Meghan was seen sitting next to a German Shepherd named Khan with her hand resting lovingly on the animal's body.

"Earlier this month, The Duchess of Sussex popped in to see the amazing people at Mayhew to hear about the incredible progress made throughout the festive period," read the post's caption.

"The Duchess of Sussex, having been proud patron of Mayhew since January 2019 and long understanding the connection between animal and community welfare, applauds the people at Mayhew for the vital work that they do every day."

"We look forward to continuing to work together with our Patron to help more animals and people," Mayhew captioned the same series of photos the Sussex Royal account posted.

In January 2019, Meghan made her first official visit to the charity, speaking on animal adoption and getting on well with an adorable little dog named Minnie. At the time, however, with the impending birth of baby Archie, adopting another dog was out of the question, as the family's hands "were too full" then.

Now that Meghan is getting settled in Canada with her own pups and family in tow, maybe she'll have time for more animals in the future?
