For last year’s star-studded ceremony, the “12 Years A Slave” star walked the red carpet in this $150,000 Calvin Klein gown featuring 6,000 pearls. As if the dress itself didn’t bring enough drama – the events surrounding it did. The gown was stolen from a Hollywood hotel shortly after the Oscars, but luckily recovered just a couple of days later after the thief reportedly wasn’t able to turn a profit on the pearls. There was a lot of drama surrounding this seemingly simple satin Prada gown. First, there was the awkwardly-placed darting around the chest area that gave Hathaway a rather perky look. And then there was a bit of a controversy around why Hathaway was wearing Prada in the first place – up until she hit the red carpet, she was thought to be wearing a Valentino gown. Turns out she ditched the Valentino last minute because she found out Amanda Seyfried was wearing something very similar.
