Little Millie Mitchel came earlier than expected - she was born five weeks premature, a surprise to her mom and dad, Meg and Marc.

The most surprising part of Millie's birth, however, wasn't its unexpected timeline. "They held her up over the curtain to me after I had my C-section. I just went, 'Oh my God,'" her mom told the Daily Mail.

Millie had all 10 fingers and toes - and a mop of thick, jet black hair atop her newborn head. Meg's friends and family told her that Millie's hair would fall out, a natural process many babies face after birth, but that has been anything but the case. "It's grown longer and longer - it's all the way down her back. I even have to blow dry it because if I leave it, it's so thick, it takes ages to dry. I've been doing that since the day she was born," said her mom.

Today, at 11 months, Millie is frequently thought to be older than she is. An easy mistake to make, considering that she's got more hair than the average 11-month-olds, combined! But that's not the only mistake people make, said Meg: "Everyone comments on how long and thick it is. People can't believe it. I even got asked once if it was a wig and I said, 'No, it's her hair!'"

No wig for Millie - those locks are perfectly natural. Soon after she was born, however, Millie was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a build up of fluid around the brain, and was scheduled for surgery. Of her two operations, one involved fitting a shunt in her brain to drain the fluid to her stomach. Surprisingly, even though doctors were operating on her brain, they didn't have to chop her special mane, entirely. The baby is now healthy and thriving - and those bits the doctors had to shave for surgery have grown back, thick as ever.

Millie's health is the most important thing, of course, but her parents are also happy to have a baby with such a unique trait. "Nobody forgets her," said Meg. "If I go to the doctor I just say, 'The baby with all the hair.' It's lovely that she's a little bit different."
