We're used to seeing official pictures of the royal family at engagements like the opening of hospitals or Trooping the Colour. Esteemed photographers are usually on hand to capture the moment and then we get a glimpse through news reports. But some lucky royal fans, or even just passers-by, sometimes snap the most personable, heart-warming and funny pictures of the royals.

To celebrate Meghan and Harry's royal wedding in 2018, online printing company Photobox launched a nationwide search to create a biography of the famous family from the lens of the British public throughout the years. Here's a selection of the wonderful photos people submitted.
