Have you ever met a teen who probably has accomplished more in a single day than you have in a calendar year? Skai Jackson is certainly one of those youngsters.
The 15-year-old actress, activist, and style icon in the making made a fashionable stop at the BUILD Series in New York City to promote her new clothing collection, Nowadays. The affordable line ($20-$89) just launched at Macy’s, and it is brimming with holiday-inspired sequinned tops, midi skirts, smart trousers, and the most stunning burgundy faux fur coat.
The Bunk’d actress has had a “passion for fashion” since she was 4 years old, and remembers taking her “Barbie dolls and going around the house and cutting ribbons and making outfits for them and sketching things.” So when Nowadays approached her to make her own line, designing came to her naturally.
Creating clothes that are a reflection of her sophisticated style was very important to Jackson. She recalls, “I remember when I was like 9, 10, 11 going into stores and saying, ‘Wow! I wish I had this.'” She also made the team at Macy’s prioritized offering “a range of sizes” for young girls so they could find something that fits, as well clothing that makes them feel comfortable and confident.
Now if only the rest of the fashion industry could get in formation with Jackson’s style mission.
