At least eight people were killed and 11 injured when a man in a rental truck plowed through a bike lane in lower Manhattan, New York City, while yelling "Allahu Akbar" on Tuesday.

Five of the eight victims of the attack have now been identified as a group of Argentinian friends who were celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1987 high school graduation.

Hernán Mendoza, Diego Angelini, Alejandro Pagnucco, Ariel Erlij and Hernán Ferruchi were confirmed dead in a statement by Argentina's foreign ministry.

The five friends were from Rosario, a port city in northern Argentina, and had gone to school together at Rosario's Polytechnic School.
