50+ Killer Bags Spotted on the Streets of NYC, From $10 to $10,000
New York Fashion Week wraps up Thursday with this afternoon’s eagerly awaited Marc Jacobs show, and that sound you hear is the collective sigh of fashion editors, buyers and random camera-baiting bloggers who might get some sleep this weekend (unless they’re heading straight to London Fashion Week, in which case the #firstworldproblems continue).
Of course, the week’s not truly over until we’ve thoroughly ogled all the most elegant, enviable, and yes, wacky-as-hell street-style looks. As we looked through the pics, we couldn’t help notice how many showgoers were swinging seriously enviable purses from their arms. An It Bag is, of course, a must when you’re hoping to catch a street-style photographer’s eye — as all the women toting Louis Vuitton satchels and Gucci hobos no doubt know. But plenty of women this season eschewed $10,000 bags in favor of charming vintage ones, from wicker top handles to unstructured carpet bags, for a look that sets them apart from the Gucci-toting hordes. Plus, it’s cheaper.
