- If you think that getting married, as far as we're concerned, is a case of going to work, come home, cook tea for hubby, going to bed, getting up, going to work, you're totally mistaken.

When we were younger, I kept thinking, why is he asking me questions about marriage, and men? And why is he not asking me questions about how the country is?

MICHAEL APTED: Do you think you settled down too young?

- No, I've married. And we do things together. Or--

But I felt that you treated us as women totally different. And I didn't like it. Now, I appreciate that when we started at seven, most women were in the kitchen or were bringing up children. There weren't many career women. But [? some ?] we hit 21, I really thought you'd have had a better idea of how the world works, shall I say?

MICHAEL APTED: Did you meet enough men before you decided who to marry?

- I've been married a year. And--

- But you still asked us the most mundane domestic questions. And I really wanted to go. So by 49, I actually thought, you know what, no more. I'm not having this anymore. And that's why I got very vocal with you.

- What happened at 21? You asked me if I'd had enough experience with men before I got married. And I thought that was actually an insulting question. And I got very angry. And we actually stopped filming because of it.

- I mean, I don't know. I don't know what Susie's--

- I was really angry that you even thought you could-- you wouldn't have asked some of the other people in this program that question.

- And I just didn't feel that you had any idea of the changing role of women in the UK at that point.
