On Thursday, Carl Weathers died at the age of 76. From playing Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" movies to Greef Karga in "The Mandalorian," Weathers had a long and illustrious career.

Here, we highlight his best performances in movies and TV.

Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” franchise

When Weathers appears on screen in 1976's "Rocky" as the confident heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, the movie instantly climbs up a level. It was a breakthrough role for Weathers, who prior to "Rocky," had only appeared in a handful of small roles.

Weathers would go on to reprise the Creed character in the "Rocky" movies that followed, as he goes from being an opponent to Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa to his friend.

Dillon in “Predator” (1987)

After the "Rocky" franchise, Weathers seamlessly moved to another genre that was a hit at the box office: sci-fi. Starring opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in this now-beloved movie, Weathers plays a reluctant colonel who isn't convinced a giant alien is trying to kill off the team he's with until it's too late.

There's also a memorable scene in which Weathers and Schwarzenegger say hello by locking hands and showing off their massive biceps.

Jericho “Action” Jackson in “Action Jackson” (1988)

As the 1980s wound down, Weathers took a swing at being a leading man in an action movie. Here, he plays a Detroit cop who tries to clean up the city.

"Action Jackson" didn't take off like Weathers' other films — the movie has since become a classic in 1980s B-movie camp — but you must respect the big swing he took here.

Chubbs in “Happy Gilmore” (1996)

In this classic comedy, Adam Sandler plays a hockey player turned golfer, Happy Gilmore, who needs to join the PGA so he can save his grandmother's home. The problem? All Gilmore knows to do is drive the golf ball really, really far.

Enter Weathers' character Chubbs, a golf pro trying to teach Gilmore the game. He's perfect in Sandler's comedy world, where he has no problem going all in for a laugh — like when Chubbs sports a giant fake wooden hand because an alligator bit off his real one.

Carl Weathers in “Arrested Development” (2004, 2013)

Weathers again showed off his comedic side when he played a fictional version of himself on the hit series "Arrested Development."

He first shows up on the show in season one, when Tobias (David Cross) pays him $1,100 for acting lessons, but all Weathers teaches him is how to save money in certain situations. He returns in later seasons when he tries to get a project about the Bluth family off the ground and has to convince them to give up their life rights.

Weathers voiced the character in the 2013 special "Toy Story of Terror!" but the character became such a hit that he returned for a cameo in 2019's "Toy Story 4."

Greef Karga in “The Mandalorian” (2019-2023)

As a friend of Pedro Pascal's masked bounty hunter, Weathers' character Greef is tough, funny, and loyal. He instantly became a fan favorite.

Along with garnering an Emmy nomination for outstanding guest actor in a drama series in 2021, Weathers also directed two episodes ("Chapter 12: The Siege" and "Chapter 20: The Foundling").
