In a rare move for an actress (especially one who is approaching her 80th birthday in a matter of weeks) Jane Fonda rocked a natural look for the November issue of Town & Country — and the cover photo appeared completely unretouched.

The 79-year-old beauty wore very little makeup and rocked her blonde choppy bob (a far cry from the long, Ariana Grande-esque Barbie ponytail with bangs she wore at the 2017 Emmy Awards).

The black and white cover showcases the legendary actresses’s profile, and even with visible fine lines and crow’s feet showing, Fonda still looks flawless in a white open-collar shirt, oversized circular earrings and a chunky chain necklace.

The two-time Oscar winner has opened up about having plastic surgery in the past, but in 2015 she told W magazine that she wasn’t proud of the fact that she’s had it: “I grew up so defined by my looks. I was taught to think that if I wanted to be loved, I had to be thin and pretty. That leads to a lot of trouble.”

Even so, the actress was admittedly shocked during a recent appearance on “Megyn Kelly Today,” after she was questioned about her plastic surgery. Fonda was there to promote her new movie “Our Souls at Night” with costar Robert Redord, when the host asked Fonda about her youthful looks:

“You’ve been an example to everyone on how to age beautifully and with strength and unapologetically,” Kelly said to Fonda. “You admit you’ve had work done, which I think is to your credit, I think you look amazing. Why did you say — I read that you said you felt you’re not proud to admit that you’ve had work done. Why not?”

Fonda promptly replied, “We really want to talk about that now?”

“Well, one of the things people think about when they look at you is how amazing you look,” Kelly replied.

Fonda then stated, “Well, thanks. Good attitude, good posture, I take care of myself. But let me tell you why I love this movie that we did, ‘Our Souls at Night,’ rather than plastic surgery.”

Fonda’s natural cover photo is yet another example of how the industry is dealing with aging. In August, Allure magazine featured 72-year-old Helen Mirren on their cover and made a resolution to stop using the term “anti-aging.”
