Aldi Just Leaked Dozens of New Holiday Groceries Hitting Shelves This December, and I’m Adding These 5 to My List
Do you hear those faint jingling bells? Oh wait, no — that’s the sound of Aldi unveiling its line of new and returning holiday items decking December shelves. Yes, the most festive time of the year has launched at the retailer, and this year’s grocery releases are among the tastiest that I’ve seen.
Dozens of heavy hitters are rolling into stores over the next few weeks — and I personally can’t wait. A whiskey-infused tree-shaped cheese (that I’m marking my calendar for)! Baked Brie with candied pecans that will be making an appearance at all of my upcoming parties! And a plethora of other great finds this month! These are the five that I’m most excited about.
1. Emporium Selection Whiskey Cheddar Cheese, $4.29 for 6 ounces
Kicking off the festive parade of groceries, Aldi is releasing an absolutely adorable cheddar in the shape of a Christmas tree on December 4. It’s just darling, and I’m torn between putting it out at a party or keeping it in my fridge as a “snacking cheese” throughout the month.
2. Specially Selected Cold Smoked Salmon Gravlax, $3.59 for 3 ounces
One of my favorite family traditions is making a gigantic breakfast spread after we’ve opened up all of the presents on Christmas morning. We have bagels, breakfast casseroles, fruit salads, chef-recommended croissants — and, naturally, we’ll need some smoked salmon to pile high on bagels. Aldi’s smoked salmon hits shelves December 4, and I’ll be snagging a package or two ahead of our holiday brunch.
3. Specially Selected Truffle Alfredo Fusilli, $7.49 for 24 ounces
To me, this month is all about cooking and eating large, extravagant meals. This also extends to the meals that I’m even just reheating. I want decadence! I want this Specially Selected Truffle Alfredo Fusilli! I’ll have to wait until December 11 to try it, but just know I’ll be first in line.
4. Emporium Selection Baking Brie, $7.49 for 10.93 ounces
To me, baked Brie is synonymous with holiday appetizers. It’s not because I can’t eat it year-round (because I can), but I really only enjoy the ooey-gooey melted cheese during holiday parties. Aldi is making eating it much easier with a launch of two frozen baked Bries — cranberry and pecan — December 11. I’m personally going straight toward the pecan because it’s sweetened with honey, and I know it would just be sublime dipped with butter rolls.
5. Bake Shop Hot Cocoa Frosted Sugar Cookie, $3.95 for 13.5 ounces
When I was a kid, I lived for those grocery-store sugar cookies with that thick, hard frosting and a few sprinkles on top. The frosting typically changed in color, but never in flavor, so I was pretty psyched to see that Aldi is releasing a hot cocoa-flavored version that I already know is going to be superb (especially paired with a really good hot cocoa mix). It’s hitting bakery shelves on December 18.
