Another Michigan quarterback is leaving the program.

Redshirt sophomore Alex Malzone said he’s transferring. The QB announced his decision to transfer on Instagram.

It has been an awesome 3 years playing for the University of Michigan that I will cherish forever. It was a dream of mine to play for the University of Michigan and it’s been an honor to wear the winged helmet. I will be graduating in April and will become a graduate transfer with 2 years left to play. Thank you to the Michigan coaching staff that has helped me mature and develop over these years. I’ve had great experiences with this team and have made relationships that will last a lifetime. I’m excited to continue my journey playing this great game. Go Blue!

Malzone didn’t record a statistic in 2017.

Former starting quarterback Wilton Speight said earlier this week he was leaving the program. Speight was sidelined after he suffered a fracture in his back vs. Purdue.

Speight would have entered the 2018 season as a senior. With John O’Korn — the QB who started vs. Ohio State in the final week of the regular season — a senior, Brandon Peters will start 2018 as the presumptive starter. Peters started Michigan’s loss to Wisconsin but left the game after suffering a concussion.

Michigan also has Dylan McCaffrey, a four-star recruit in the 2017 class, on the roster and a verbal commitment from Joe Milton, a four-star quarterback in the 2018 class. Milton plans to enroll early.

Michigan wide receiver Drake Harris is also transferring from the program. He too announced his decision on Instagram. Harris has nine career catches.
