What people are saying
Huberd's Shoe Grease has earned an impressive 4.7-star rating based on more than 4,300 customer reviews. Amazon shoppers have called the grease has been called “easy to apply” and has been touted as a great way to “rehydrate tired leather.”
“The grease is absolutely perfect,” one shopper said. They added that because there are no animal fats, tallow or synthetic compounds in the grease, the grease won’t cause deterioration of threads or “undue” any stretching of the leather.
“The product does not smell of chemicals,” another said, adding that the quality of the grease hasn’t lessened over time.
“The best boot product I’ve ever used,” another said, noting that while they’ve always used mink pol. They prefer the beeswax and pine tar formula of Huberd's.
Although there are mostly positive reviews online, there are some things to be aware of before you use the product. Most shoppers have noted that the grease will darken the colour of your leather products. Most reviewers didn't seem to mind that the leather looked darker or "richer" looking, but something to consider before you apply to your much-loved boots, saddles, gloves or anything made of fine leather.
Another things shoppers noted was the "woodsy"or "campfire" smell of the grease. If you're sensitive to smells, Huberd's rich but natural smell might be off-putting.
If you have expensive leather boots or work boots that you're looking to winterproof against snow and salt, Huberd's Shoe Grease might be for you. The company has built a loyal following for their beloved grease that can help restore everything including saddles and handbags.
However, if you're worried about changing the colour of your leather, this might not be for you. Since the wax conditions leather and adds essential oils back into the leather, it will darken the colour of your leather pieces.
