Although it took me quite a few years to come around, I've finally jumped on board the scented candle train. After finding my go-to scents, the home decor staple has become an essential part of adding warmth and ambiance to my home.

While I was used to using matches or lighters to light my candles, I ran into some issues when they stopped bing able to reach the wicks of the tall cylindrical candles I'd been burning.

After too many close calls fiddling around with matches too near the flame, I decided to invest in a safer alternative: an electric lighter from the brand Ronxs.

What is it?

While I've been using it for candles, the Ronxs Electric Lighter is a convenient multipurpose tool that can be used anywhere you'd normally reach for a box of matches or a lighter. It can be used to start a fire while camping, grilling, or for use inside your home.

Thanks to its long and flexible neck, this lighter is able to access even the smallest and hardest to reach areas, like melted-down wicks or underneath logs and tinder.

Unlike other lighters that use butane, this one uses a rechargeable battery as the power source for its flameless spark — which makes it a great option if you're looking for a more environmentally-friendly alternative.

A single charge is even able to last up to 600 uses so you can bring this lighter along for all of your outdoor adventures without needing to recharge.

What others are saying

One of the main draws that encouraged my purchase was the fact that the Ronxs Electric Lighter has earned a stellar reputation among Amazon shoppers. It's received more than 13,000 five-star reviews, and has been called "very handy."

One reviewer wrote that this lighter is "perfect" since there is "no flame to worry about," while another raved that since purchasing, they don't have to "worry about throwing out matchsticks anymore."

While many shoppers have shared that this lighter is ideal for use with candles ("perfect if you’re a candle lover!") others have noted that it has many other uses as well. From wooden stoves to gas kitchen ranges to camping trips, this lighter is up to the task.

While this lighter does a great job at providing a spark, some shoppers have found that it emits a high-pitched sound when in use that was irritating to kids and pets. If you're sensitive to sound frequencies, you may also notice t5he noise, but most reviewers didn't have any issues.

Personally, I didn't notice a sound at all but I was slightly disappointed by the mini USB charging cable that comes included with the lighter. It's only a few inches long, which makes it difficult to plug into a charging source, so I'd recommend using a different cable to get the best use.

Is it worth it?

At its current price of $17, this electric lighter is well worth the money. It's certainly more convenient than attempting to light a burned-down candle wick with a match or a lighter, and its versatility makes this a household tool that I'll be using on repeat.

I can't speak to the high pitched noise that some other Amazon shoppers have experienced, but as long as it keeps working as well as it has for the past few weeks, I'm hoping to get lots of use out of this electric lighter in the future.
