'American Idol' Fans Are Worried After Seeing Katy Perry Collapse During a "Gas Leak"

From Good Housekeeping

  • American Idol season 3 (18th season overall) airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

  • In a teaser clip for the newest episode, judge Katy Perry collapses after a supposed gas leak in the audition venue.

  • Auditions were temporarily stopped to deal with the situation.

American Idol experienced a major problem during the season 3 auditions.

Per a new clip from Sunday night's episode, judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie were forced to suddenly halt production after suspecting that there might be a gas leak in the building.

“Do you guys smell gas? It’s pretty intense,” Katy claims in the clip. Moments later, Luke tells producers that they're "getting heavy propane." Then, Katy says, "I have a slight headache from it. Oh, it's bad, it's really bad."

By the looks of things, something was definitely up. The clip proceeds to show contestants leaving the studio, sirens going off, and firefighters investigating the situation. Lionel declares that you can smell it outside, while Luke chimes in "this is not a joke, there really is a gas leak." Katy pronounces that she isn't "feeling good" and then falls on the ground.

Katy's collapse prompted immediate concern from some fans. "So sorry to hear! Hope she recovers from this!" one fan tweeted. "That's scary stuff. Hope they are all alright," another said. "Poor Katy," a different fan proclaimed.

So far, Katy has stayed silent about the incident. Given that she's been tweeting about the show since the supposed gas leak though, it looks like she's doing okay. Last week, she told reporters that she thinks "true artists and true stars are coming out of Idol again."

As for the audition process, it's unclear whether or not American Idol was able to continue at the same venue later on or not. Regardless, we hope everyone was okay and the problem was resolved quickly.
