Amy Schumer's morning sickness is the real deal as she vomits her way to the stage for a standup show — and performs in slippers

Morning sickness is a beast — and Amy Schumer knows that all too well.

The comedian — who was recently hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum, which is severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy — documented her violent illness Tuesday on the way to do a standup show in Westchester County, N.Y. The video of her hurling is not for the faint of heart — nor weak of stomach! — and captures how she felt before going onstage at the Tarrytown Music Hall.

Schumer thanked the sold-out crowd for being “warm and such great laughers and for being cool with my sweatpants and slippers onstage.” She performed with a giant trash can next to her during the show and received a standing ovation at the end. One person in the audience called the show “brilliant,” despite Schumer not being in tip-top shape.

However, the funny woman said she unfortunately has to cancel some upcoming shows due to the condition for which she was hospitalized earlier this month. Once she’s feeling “human again,” she said, she will “make up these dates” and promised “a great time.”

“I’m strugglin right now,” admitted the I Feel Pretty star, who said the graphic footage is part of a documentary she’s been filming of her tour. “But I’m so grateful and excited to be a mom. I’m grateful I have access to healthcare, as we all should have.”

Seeing someone vomit isn’t your typical Instagram fare. The photo-sharing site is known for its unrealistically perfect depiction of life. Schumer’s fans appreciated her being so real — and sent her their best wishes. “My pregnancies were the same! Hang in there,” wrote one person. Another commenter wrote, “Amy, you are such a warrior and care so much about your fans. I hope you know how much we love you and want you to take care of yourself! You’re our national treasure, gotta stay strong pls!!” Another fan added, “Damn girl. That’s dedication!” as well as, ” LOVE YOU, YOUR PUKE, YOUR COMEDY AND YOUR POLITICS SOOO MUCH!!!”

Some people, however, were rightfully caught off-guard by the retching. “Wtf we really didn’t need to see that or hear it,” complained one person.

Speaking of politics, Schumer’s post included a dig at Cindy Hyde-Smith, who won Mississippi’s Senate race runoff on Tuesday night despite her lynching comment earlier this month. Schumer gave a verbal finger to the politician “and anyone who voted for her. My feelings on her are best expressed by the above video. And I don’t usually agree with speaking ill of crackheads, but she has a crackhead looking mouth. Tiny racist teeth.”

Schumer also called out the MLB — specifically Commissioner Rob Manfred — for donating to Hyde-Smith’s campaign. The organization has since requested the donation to be returned.

Schumer announced her pregnancy — with her chef husband, Chris Fischer — in late October.
