Ana de Armas Is the Latest Celebrity to Wear These Baffling Sneakers

Backgrid Ana De Armas

On an outing in Malibu, Ana de Armas became the latest in a long string of public figures to wear the most baffling shoes known to man. The actress stepped out in a pair of Golden Goose Superstar sneakers that were not only pre-distressed (with painted-on scuff marks and dull white laces), as are all Superstars, but also covered in glitter. Armas paired the shoes with an Alexander McQueen shoulder bag.

A beat-up sneaker is nothing new — we've all proudly rocked a pair of Converse or Vans that's seen better days — but these particular athletic shoes are sold already looking like they've done several rounds of Tough Mudder at the high-key egregious price of $480 and up. What's more, celebrities are obsessed with them.

Reese Witherspoon, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift are all fans, and even Michelle Obama wore them this week. Even though it's such a celebrity thing to collect "artfully distressed" sneakers that cost what others pay for a wedding dress, the shoes have maintained their popularity for years.

We may not be shelling out cold, hard cash for our neighbor's used hi-tops, but we have to admit, there's just something about these dirty-looking Golden Geese.
