Andrew Firestone just acquired this ‘absolute gem’ of a hotel in downtown SLO

A downtown San Luis Obispo hotel was just acquired by a familiar face.

Andrew Firestone, who some might know as the third bachelor on the popular ABC reality television show “The Bachelor” back in 2003, and Jess Parker have acquired Hotel Cerro, adding it to the holdings of their company, Santa Barbara-based StonePark Capital.

The 65-room hotel, located at 1125 Garden St. in downtown San Luis Obispo, opened in January 2020.

As StonePark Capital, Firestone and Parker manage a portfolio of seven California hotels, totaling more than 569 guest rooms, according to a news release. Five of those properties are on the Central Coast: La Quinta Inn and Suites in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara, as well as Mason Beach Inn, Courtyard by Marriott and The Waterman Hotel in Santa Barbara.

As part of the purchase, Hotel Cerro will also now join Marriot Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection Hotels, according to a news release.

Design and branding updates are expected to “begin immediately,” the release said.

“Hotel Cerro is an absolute gem in San Luis Obispo that has artfully combined stunning architecture and design to match the historic character of downtown,” Firestone said in the release. “The location and unique offerings fit perfectly within the profile of the Autograph Collection Hotels.”

Hotel Cerro is located on the block bordered by Garden, Marsh and Broad streets in the space that was formerly home to SLO Brewing Co.

This will be the third collaboration between StonePark Capital and Marriott on the Central Coast. It is also the third collaboration with hospitality management platform, AZUL Hospitality.

The hospitality company will take over management of the hotel’s operations, including its restaurant and spa, according to the release.

“We are so proud to be the stewards of this gorgeous property and look forward to welcoming guests from around the state and across the world,” Firestone said.
