Angry Instagrammers are flooding Gigi Hadid's posts with snake emojis, here's why

Model Gigi Hadid announced on Instagram earlier this week that she will be returning to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which is slated to happen in Shanghai, China this year.

The 22-year-old celebrated her recasting by posting a black and white video of herself twirling in a strappy lingerie with iconic angel wings and captioned the post: “Forever and ever and ever a dream come true to be asked back to the VS Show!”

But not everyone is as pleased as with the news.

While Hadid has turned off commenting on her announcement post, users are leaving angry comments on her other posts reminding the model of a previous incident that was deemed racist towards Asians.

Back in February, Hadid came under fire for a video posted by her fellow model sister Bella, in which she was seen squinting her eyes to imitate a Buddha-shaped cookie she held up.

And it looks like some fans have not forgotten (nor forgiven), leaving comments telling Gigi that she’s not welcomed in China and flooding her posts with snake emojis.

This isn’t the first time Gigi’s been labelled a racist.

At last year’s American Music Awards, she was called out for her impression of Melania Trump where she imitated the First Lady’s Eastern European accent.

After she was heavily criticized, the model published a handwritten note of apology to Twitter.

“I was honored to host the AMAs last night and to work with some of the most respected writers in the business. I removed or changed anything in the script that I felt took the joke too far, and whether or not you choose to see it, what remained was done in good humor and with no bad intent,” she wrote. “I believe Melania understands show business and the way shows are written and run. I apologize to anyone that I offended and have only the best wishes for our country.”
