If you’ve had your eye on the latest iPhone release but were put off by the hefty price, you’re in luck because Apple just announced an updated version of their more affordable iPhone SE models.
Starting at $599 (as opposed to $979 for the iPhone 11 and $1,379 for the iPhone 11 Pro), the new and improved iPhone SE is now available to pre-order. The phone, which comes in black, white and PRODUCT(RED), will officially be released to the public on April 24.
With a 4.7” retina display, the screen on the new model is slightly smaller than on the iPhone 11, which helps to bring down costs. It’s also made with Apple’s classic glass and aluminum back, rather than the textured matte glass and stainless steel of the iPhone 11. Another major difference that you’ll find in the iPhone SE is that it only features a single 12MP Wide camera.
Luckily, it does include the same powerful A13 chip processor as its more expensive counterparts, which guarantees the fastest experience while launching apps, playing games and streaming video. It also includes the same Portrait mode, Portrait Lighting, Depth Control, next-generation Smart HDR, and 4K video features you know and love.
Fans of the iPhone’s home button will be pleased to know that the new iPhone SE still relies on Touch ID for security instead of facial recognition, making for an easy transition from older models to the iPhone SE. Weighing in at just 148g, the second generation iPhone SE is also the lightest of the bunch, so if you’re looking for an affordable phone model without some of the bells and whistles of the iPhone 11, you’ll definitely want to place your orders now.
