From Woman's Day

Do you pride yourself on being a tech-savvy people person? If you like to coach your parents through downloading iPhone apps or walk your kids through building Keynote presentations on a Mac, you might be interested in learning how to work for Apple. Specially, how to land a part- to full-time role at Apple Support, the company’s customer service team.

What’s better is that you may not even need to walk out the front door to join the Fortune 500 company.

Yes, you can work from home for Apple! Not only do its online-only employees have a comfortable work “uniform” (think: yoga pants and a cozy tee) and the most convenient commute possible, but they are also eligible to receive benefits like paid time away and product discounts.

Apple hires to fill three primary work-from-home positions:

At Home Advisor

Instead of getting physically stationed at the nearest Genius Bars, At Home Advisors connect with Apple users all over the country via phone calls and online chats. Some experience with iPods, iPads, iPhones, and Macs will help in fulfilling this role, but this position is not exclusively for applicants who are already Apple experts. In fact, every Advisor undergoes five to seven weeks of training on a provided iMac with a live instructor (who is also remote). This ensures that they’re experts in Apple’s standards for customer service, a select set of products and programs, and advanced troubleshooting tactics.

When applying to the role, attitude is just as important as proficiency with Apple products (if not more so). “An ideal candidate has a passion for working with technology and helping people,” the company shares in its FAQs on the role. “You must enjoy troubleshooting and working independently without in-person supervision. And you should have good multitasking skills to manage multiple systems and applications simultaneously.”

At Home Team Manager

In addition to the customer-facing responsibilities outlined above, a Team Manager is assigned a group of Advisors to supervise and coach. Regular online meetings offer a place to address pain points, increase the team’s performance, and discuss professional development.

At Home Area Manager

As might be expected, this supervisor role oversees a group of Team Managers to help them reach their fullest potential within the company. Plus, Area Managers provide business-level consulting.

While there aren’t currently any US-based openings, don’t despair. You can keep tabs on the next wave of recruiting by periodically searching the Apple job listings as well as creating a job alert via LinkedIn.
