Ariel Winter preaches body confidence and positivity in her everyday life. She’s a strong believer in wearing what you want, when you want — regardless of what anyone has to say about it.

In her latest personal example of this, Winter showed off a Western-inspired look on her Snapchat account, posing for a selfie in ripped denim shorts, a lace-up bra crop top, and cowboy boots.

The look is consistent with the star’s signature style, as she regularly embraces tight-fitting, revealing ensembles. At just 19, the actress holds a mature perspective on her personal style — and on not paying any attention to the haters.

“I went through a lot of hate online, so I tried to change myself for a really long time. But people just kept hating on me no matter what I did,” Winter told Refinery29. “I decided that instead of pleasing these other people, I’ll just spend that time pleasing myself. Those people are going to be rude to me regardless of what I do, so I should just try and be happy with what I am.”

While one would think that Winter doesn’t lack body confidence given her penchant for risqué styles, she is really just like any other teen.

“It’s hard to be positive about your body all the time. I know because I’m honest about my insecurities that people think I’m 100 percent positive about my body all the time, but I’m not,” she also revealed to Refinery29. “I get really uncomfortable, too. But I just remind myself that this is the body I was given. This is who I am.”

The star stands at the forefront of the body positive community, regularly encouraging women to fight back against attempts to shame for showing skin. She posted an image just last month that reflected that message.

Winter feels that women are often unfairly judged for the content they post on social media — and it’s something she hopes to change.

“Guys, all the time, go on their Instagrams and take pictures nude with guitars in front of their stuff. No one says anything. Nobody cares,” the actress recently told Yahoo Style. “When we try to be free and post what we want, it’s like, look at that slut on social media. That’s not what it is. We’re proud of our bodies. We’re proud of who we are. We’re made the way we are. Why do we care? If I take a picture and I think it looks good — if it’s a little revealing, whatever.”
