Aubrey Plaza 'psychologically tortured' co-star on The White Lotus
Aubrey Plaza has opened up about playing a prank on her The White Lotus co-star, Adam DiMarco, claiming it pushed him to the "brink of a psychological break."
In a new GQ profile, Aubrey touched on filming for the second season of the HBO show, taking place in a hotel in Sicily, Italy. The actor, 38, explained how Adam, 32, discovered a "Black Witch-style symbol" made from reed diffusers in his dressing room, something with Aubrey also claimed happened to her.
Adam says it left him "definitely questioning my reality for a while there", adding that he "didn’t know who to trust. It was like Murder on the Orient Express. Everyone was the murderer."
Hotel CCTV later revealed the prank was created by Aubrey, who was insisting she was also a victim to throw Adam off the scent. "It’s Ms. Plaza," hotel staff confirmed.
In the interview, Aubrey confessed, "Adam was so innocent, like a baby bird. It was really sick, what I was doing to him. I got him to the brink of a psychological break." The interviewer notes - 'She’s… kidding? It’s hard to tell.'
That sounds... intense. In The White Lotus season 2, Aubrey plays Harper Spiller, a sarcastic lawyer who is on holiday with her husband and friends. Their vacation is thrown into disarray following a series of mysterious murders, with hotel guests attempting to figure out who dunnit.
