From Town & Country

While yesterday'sfuneral at the National Cathedral in D.C. celebrated former president George H.W. Bush's dedication to public service, today's memorial at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston is a much more intimate, personal tribute to Bush's life as a friend and family man.

The eulogies at this morning's ceremony will come from Bush's grandson George P. Bush, and his very close friend and former chief of staff Jim Baker; his eight grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers; and six of his granddaughters will speak at the service. Notably, former first daughter Barbara Pierce Bush will read two verses of Psalm 23 during the ceremony.

“I think we’re both heartbroken," Barbara said earlier this week about her late grandfather-whom she called "Gampy"-during an interview with her sister, Jenna Bush Hager.

"We, of course, expected our grandfather to pass away soon-he was 94-and yet it came as such a shock. And we miss him already very much because he really was the center of our family. And yet, I think I also get a lot of joy knowing that he’s with our grandmother now.”
