Bella Hadid is bringing back a trend not seen since the early aughts: capris.
On Thursday night in Los Angeles, the fashion model debuted new bangs and a full Canadian-tuxedo look by wearing a denim vest and matching capri pants, with a leopard-print pouch and high heels. The 22-year-old sported the denim ensemble to celebrate her new collaboration with another reminder of the ’00s era: jeans label True Religion.
Capri pants originally gained popularity in the 1950s, thanks to fashion designer Sonja de Lennart, who originally created them as a casual alternative to wide-legged, loose slacks women wore during the 1940s. Hollywood celebrities including Audrey Hepburn, Mary Tyler Moore, and Elizabeth Taylor then sported capris, helping bolster the look’s popularity during the ’50s. Capris rose to popularity once again in the ’00s, after being seen on celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Laguna Beach star Lauren Conrad.
Although it’s easy to confuse capri pants with cropped pants, the latter end just before the ankle, whereas capris are shorter. Today there are many chic versions to choose from.
Ahead, shop five different options, each featuring stylish details such as a ruffled hem, a raw hem, or even a chic bow-tie belt.
