The Belt Style Miranda Kerr, Kendall Jenner, and Dakota Johnson Are All Obsessed With

If crop tops, chokers, neon everything, and more ’90s trends making comebacks wasn’t enough nostalgia, another trend beloved by Angela Chase, Courtney Love, Blossom, and Kelly Bundy. Celebrities today like Miranda Kerr, Kendall Jenner, Dakota Johnson, and Ashley Benson have all been spotted wearing statement logo belts looped around their equally retro high-waisted jeans.

Belts with big buckles are nothing new to the fashion industry. They were at the height of their fame during the ‘90s when “logo mania” was in full effect Chanel’s gold—chain-linked belts and Hermès’ iconic, polished “H” belts were the signature symbol for style and wealth. However, statement belts don’t necessarily have to be logo-bearing. Take for example, Saint Laurent’s western-inspired belt, which features a pin buckle and engraved detailing, portraying the offbeat, gritty attitude synonymous with the Parisian brand.

But more recently, it took someone like Gucci’s current Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, to reimagine the “statement belt” in a youthful, contemporary way that has since bolstered its success among today’s fashion youth. Fashion’s “Little Prince” (a.k.a. Michele) brought a refreshing attitude back to the storied Italian fashion, a type of renaissance that hasn’t occurred since Tom Ford served as creative director.

Gucci’s interlocking “GG” logo belt isn’t the only popular style. Saint Laurent’s western style belt, among others have become hugely popular among celebrities and fashionistas around the globe.
