Canadian TV presenter Ben Mulroney has revealed the secret behind his seven-year-old son’s show-stealing grin as he photobombed Meghan Markle during the royal wedding.

Twins Brian and John Mulroney were given the honour of carrying the now Duchess of Sussex’s huge train as she entered St George’s chapel to marry Prince Harry .

Thrilled Brian stole Meghan’s limelight as he flashed a massive grin when the bridal party made their entrance.

His dad, husband of Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney, has since revealed his son was beaming because he said he had never heard a trumpet before.

Speaking on CTV's Your Morning in the US, his father said: “I asked him and he said he’d never heard a trumpet before.”

The proud father added: “And I think when he walked in, I think he saw all the people there and the flowers — none of that was there during the rehearsal.”

The twins also charmed crowds with their enthusiastic waves as they drove along Windsor’s Long Walk with Harry’s bride on Saturday.

Their father said he and his stylist wife told all three of their children, including bridesmaid Ivy, aged four, “if someone waves at you, wave back.”

The couple’s children joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s eldest children Prince George, four and Princess Charlotte, three, in the bridal party.

The bridesmaids included Harry's goddaughters, Zalie Warren, two, and three-year-old Florence van Cutsem and Ms Markle's goddaughters sisters Remi and Rylan Litt, aged six and seven respectively.

Harry's godson six-year-old Jasper Dyer was also a pageboy.

Mr Mulroney revealed how the children formed a “little club” as they got to know each other before the ceremony.

He told his co-presenters that Jasper told his parents Harry’s friend Mark Dyer and his wife Amanda that he “liked those Canadian boys very much”.

He also revealed little Ivy had become “very good friends” with the other bridesmaids.
