Yahoo Canada readers chose their Golden Globe picks for best and worst dressed
The 77th Golden Globe Awards have come and gone, but there’s just two more awards to be handed out: Best and worst dressed.
We rounded up the most buzzworthy looks from some of our favourite A-list stars, and issued a call to Yahoo Canada readers to cast their vote and declare a red carpet winner — and sadly, a loser.
Winner: Scarlett Johansson
Johansson may not have taken home a Golden Globe for her role in “Marriage Story,” but the actress nabbed the title of best-dressed celeb from Yahoo Canada readers.
The 35-year-old star of the upcoming superhero flick “Black Widow” received 51 per cent of votes for her glamorous scarlet-coloured gown by Vera Wang. Johansson paired the look with more than 120 carats of diamonds from Bulgari, which sparkled on the red carpet alongside her fiancé, “Saturday Night Live” cast member Colin Jost.
Runner up: Helen Mirren
Dame Helen Mirren trailed behind Johansson with 16 per cent of votes, proving that red carpet style is ageless. The 74-year-old star of the HBO series “Catherine the Great” looked regal in a crimson off-the-shoulder gown by Dior and a matching cranberry lip.
Mirren told “Entertainment Tonight” correspondent Sharon Osbourne that it was the first time she had worn a custom-made gown by Dior, and admitted the look paired with Harry Winston jewels made her feel “very Queenly.”
Loser: Jennifer Lopez
The “Hustlers” star committed a rare fashion “bow pas” on the red carpet with her over-the-top Golden Globes ensemble. The 50-year-old’s Valentino gown was a miss with Yahoo Canada readers. A total of 45 per cent of votes dubbed this Christmas present look the worst of the night.
Close call: Gwyneth Paltrow
The Goop founder and star of the Netflix series “The Politician” came in second place behind Lopez, with 26 per cent of readers declaring her brown, ruffled gown by Fendi a red carpet flop.
