The Best Cars That Still Offer a Manual Transmission in 2024, Ranked
Although there are only a select few new cars that still offer a manual transmission, the ones that do still come with a stick-shift are among the most enticing sports cars, sports sedans, and hot hatchbacks on the market today. Here, we've ranked the best new cars that still offer a manual transmission in 2024. We started with our favorite performance cars but also included a few more affordable and practical choices further down the list—including even a few off-road-oriented SUVs. We also listed the price of the least expensive version that comes with a manual transmission, noting which trim levels or options are required for the three-pedal model where applicable.

2024 Porsche 911
Price: $126,550 (Carrera T)
For its newest generation of 911, Porsche was kind enough to retain the stick shift for the Carrera T, Carrera S, Targa 4S, GT3 (pictured), and Sport Classic trims. A seven-speed manual transmission is a no-cost option on these models. While it makes the car slower in a straight line compared with the versions equipped with an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic, the manual 911s are a whole lot more fun.

2024 Porsche 718 Cayman
Price: $69,950
Porsche's mid-engine sports car might not have the power levels to keep up with the big-boy 911, but some might argue that its balanced chassis provides even better handling. We're big fans of the high-strung GT4 model (pictured), with its GT3-derived naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six. But thankfully, the manual transmission is available throughout the lineup, starting with the four-cylinder base models all the way through the desirable GTS 4.0 flat-six versions.

2024 Porsche 718 Boxster
Price: $72,050
The 718 Boxster is mechanically identical to the Cayman, save for the lack of a roof. That means it offers all the same great handling characteristics, flat-four and flat-six engine choices, and manual transmission options across the lineup. It even has its own hard-core version, the Boxster Spyder RS pictured here.

2024 Lotus Emira
Price: $107,750
Don't want to blend into the Porsche crowd? Lotus has the perfect alternative: the Emira. Go for the lovely Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter supercharged V-6 and you can get it paired to a lovely six-speed manual. Just add twisty road, and you're guaranteed to have a good time.
2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata
Price: $30,170
What list of new manual cars would be complete without the best of them all, the Miata? Specially developed for driver enjoyment, the Miata's six-speed is wonderful to use and worlds more engaging than the optional torque-converter automatic.
2024 Honda Civic Type R
Price: $45,890
The Honda Civic Type R is the best hot hatch on the market right now. A lot of that has to do with its phenomenal handling and its six-speed manual transmission—arguably the best-feeling shifter you can buy short of the Porsche 911 GT3's.
2024 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing
Price: $62,890
While it doesn't have the same iconic V-8 as its bigger CT5-badged sibling, the CT4-V Blackwing is still an unbelievably great car. GM has perfected its chassis tuning and Magnetic Ride suspension to deliver an epic four-door sports car that drives way better than any new M3.
2024 BMW M2
Price: $64,195
Thankfully, BMW still offers its smallest M car, the wonderful M2, with a six-speed manual. The latest generation of the M2 features a 453-hp turbocharged inline-six and rear-wheel drive, and the stick-shift helps it hew to the simplicity and joy of prior generations of M car.
2024 Acura Integra and Integra Type S
Price: $37,995 (Integra) / $52,995 (Integra Type S)
As our 2024 Performance Car of the Year under $100,000, the Acura Integra Type S blends track performance, everyday livability, and a huge amount of driving enjoyment. With the same mechanicals as the Civic Type R, this 320-hp hatchback with a standard six-speed manual is toned down a bit compared with the raucous Honda without compromising engagement. The base Integra is also offered with a manual transmission if you opt for the A-Spec trim level.
2024 Toyota GR Corolla
Price: $37,595
Though it's not the GR Yaris we were all hoping for, the GR Corolla still delivers on the promise of excellent rally-inspired hot hatch. A lot of our excitement stems from the standard six-speed manual that delivers the high-strung turbo three-cylinder engine's 300 horsepower to all four wheels.
2024 Hyundai Elantra N
Price: $34,850
With its hot-hatchback Veloster N and SUV Kona N counterparts now discontinued, the Elantra N carries the mantle for Hyundai's performance brand along with the electric Ioniq 5 N. The Elantra sedan is the only N car available with a manual transmission, though. The clutch action might not be ideal, but the shifter for the standard six-speed gearbox is fantastic.

2024 Chevrolet Camaro
Price: $32,495
Time is running out to buy the current-gen Camaro, as 2024 will be the last model year for this pony car in its current form. You can get the standard V-6 and V-8 models with a manual transmission, but we're partial to the ZL1 1LE. It combines the C7 Corvette Z06's 650-horsepower V-8 with a six-speed manual, with plenty of aero and top-notch suspension components. It's the best track car GM's ever made.

2024 Ford Mustang
Price: $43,090
Thankfully Ford has elected to keep the six-speed manual around as an option for the 2024 Mustang, though it's no longer available on the base EcoBoost trim. If you want three pedals, you'll have to opt for the versions with a 5.0-liter V-8 model, which include the GT and the Dark Horse. But we were going to get the V-8 anyway.

2024 Toyota Supra
Price: $56,495
When the revived Supra first hit dealerships, it was only available with an eight-speed automatic. For years, enthusiasts were up in arms, desperate for Toyota to add another pedal. The company finally relented in 2022, giving buyers a manual option for the 2023 model year. The six-speed stick is offered only with the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, as the base turbo-four remains automatic-only.

2024 Honda Civic Si
Price: $30,195
Don't want to spend nearly $45k on a Civic Type R? We don't blame you. Honda also makes the delightful Civic Si, based on the standard Civic sedan. Its 200-hp, 1.5-liter turbo-four is attached to an extra-buttery six-speed manual that we love.
2024 Subaru WRX
Price: $33,855
Subaru doesn't make the excellent WRX STI anymore, but at least there's still the WRX. A staple for enthusiasts who live in areas where snow falls, it's the ultimate entry-level AWD performance car. Its turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four produces 271 horsepower, and a six-speed manual transmission is standard on every trim level except for the top GT version, which sadly comes only with a CVT automatic. It goes without saying that the manual would be our choice.

2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI
Price: $33,910
There's no time like the present to buy a VW Golf GTI, because 2024 will be the final year that the GTI will offer a manual transmission in the U.S. We're sad about the stick-shift's departure in this fun-to-drive hot hatchback, but at least VW is giving the manual GTI a sendoff in the form of the Edition 380 (pictured here), which comes with a few visual tweaks compared with the standard car.

2025 BMW M4
Price: $80,275
The BMW M4 is undoubtedly faster with the available eight-speed automatic, but the six-speed-manual version is the one you want. The stick-shift M4 is the least powerful M4, as the six-speed only comes with the base 473-hp variant of the turbo inline-six. But while you won't have as much horsepower as the 500-plus-hp M4 Competition, we think you will have more smiles.
2024 BMW M3
Price: $76,995
Need more doors? The BMW M3 sedan is essentially the same car as the M4 coupe, with the main difference being its four-door body. The styling is a bit different too, with widened flares out back for the big rubber. The powertrain lineup is similar, too, with the base 473-hp M3 coming standard with a six-speed manual and the more powerful M3 Competition models coming only with an automatic.
2024 Nissan Z
Price: $44,110
Though its looks are polarizing, you have to admit: the Nissan Z is a compelling package. A two-seat coupe with a 400-hp twin-turbo V-6 sending power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual? Sign us up. It is a bummer that the higher-performance NISMO version comes only with an automatic, though.
Here's everything you need to know on the Z
2024 Mazda 3
Price: $31,535
Mazda still offers a six-speed manual in its stylish and fun-to-drive 3 compact car, but only if you select the hatchback body style, the base 2.5-liter inline-four, and the well-equipped Premium trim level. Unfortunately, you can't pair the stick-shift with the more powerful turbo engine or the 3's optional all-wheel-drive system. We're still glad to have the choice to shift it ourselves.
2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI
Price: $29,310
The Volkswagen Jetta GLI uses the same drivetrain found in the GTI hatch. That means a 228-hp turbocharged inline-four matched to a six-speed manual. Most of the driving dynamics transfer over too, meaning you'll have just as much fun no matter which body style you prefer.

2024 Jeep Wrangler
Price: $33,890
If off-roading is more your style, then it's difficult not to recommend the Wrangler. Unlike pretty much every other new off-road vehicle out there, it can still be purchased with a manual transmission, which goes along with its old-school construction. The manual is only available with the 3.6-liter V-6 engine option, as the turbo-four and plug-in-hybrid 4xe powertrains come only with automatic transmissions.
2024 Ford Bronco
Price: $41,525
Ford's long-awaited Wrangler competitor is an off-road beast with slick retro styling and a removable roof. Opt for the smaller four-cylinder engine, and you can also get a six-speed manual with a seventh "crawler" gear.

2024 Toyota Tacoma
Price: $38,395
We appreciate that Toyota has continued to offer a manual transmission in the newest generation of the Tacoma pickup truck. You will have to choose from just a few configurations in order to get the three-pedal setup, though: it's offered only with the crew-cab setup and it requires you opt for four-wheel drive and either the SR or TRD Sport trim levels. The six-speed gearbox hooks up to a 270-hp version of the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine.
