Autumn is just around the corner, and with this summer mostly being a wash out, we are leaning towards more cosy numbers ahead of September anyway.
For those on the hunt for dresses to see them through the transitional weeks from summer to autumn, (and which you will continue to get your wear out of as the colder nights start to draw in) we have found plenty that fit the bill.
There are lots of designs out there that are not only chic, but are also breathable enough for those slightly balmy September days, yet warm enough for when the heavens open.
While some may prefer midi length, others may be looking for a winter maxi, or even a mini to style with tights and chunky boots.
Three-quarter length sleeves are a huge hit come the autumn because they are flattering and are a happy medium between bare shoulders and full coverage.
Then there are prints. Come autumn we see less bright colours and more earthy colour palettes. Polka dot, stripes and animal prints dominate, but floral numbers still abound, just in slightly more muted tones.
What we love about autumn dresses is how versatile they are. Whether you pair them with sandals for the slightly milder days, trainers, or heeled boots for when the weather really does change, they are an easy item you will call on time and time again.

Marks and Spencer is our go-to for dresses all year round. This floral design is our latest favourite for the transition from summer to autumn.
