Kristen Stewart was the ultimate badass at the Cannes premiere of “Blackkklansman.”
The actor and Cannes jury member protested the festival’s ban on flat shoes by taking off her Christian Louboutin stilettos and walking the famous red carpet in her bare feet.
Photographers went into a frenzy as they snapped pictures of the star running up the stairs of the Croisette Promenade holding her heels.
Stewart has been vocal about her dislike for the festival’s protocol that all women wear high heel shoes. In 2016, while promoting her film “Personal Shopper” at Cannes, she flashed photographers the middle finger during a photo call before removing her heels in favour of black Converse sneakers.
At the time, Stewart told reporters that she was against the festival’s sexist policy saying, “Things have to change immediately. It has become really obvious that if [a man and I] were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, ‘Excuse me, young lady, you’re not wearing heels. You cannot come in.’ Then [I’m going to say], ‘Neither is my friend. Does he have to wear heels?’ It can work both ways. It’s just like you simply cannot ask me to do something that you are not asking him. I get the black-tie thing but you should be able to do either version—flats or heels.”
