I’ve loved her bold and quirky designs ever since I saw my mom rocking a Betsey Johnson frock to her own wedding rehearsal dinner. However, at a size 18, I myself could not fit into Johnson’s designs. Still, I always loved her unique and self-assured aesthetic.
After a short stint interning at Vogue magazine, I scored a coveted internship working at Johnson’s famous New York City studio on 42nd street. There, I witnessed her off-beat genius right before my eyes. With a champagne glass in one hand and colorful markers in another, Johnson would doodle on everything in sight— and her constant stream of creativity inspired my own fashion perspective so much.
Fast forward to 2019 and it feels surreal to share that the day I have been waiting for my whole life has happened — Betsey Johnson just dropped a five-piece, plus-size collection comprised of her most famous silhouettes, all in sizes 14 to 24! All of the designs showcase her signature prints and everything is under $100.
If you aren't familiar with the body-positive shopping experience that is Dia&Co, let me be the first to introduce you to company that has, in my opinion, revolutionizing plus-size shopping. They are rethinking the subscription model by offering a level of personalization that you can’t find anywhere else. At first, I was apprehensive, but quickly found that this new system really works because every box is tailored to your style, body and budget.
Through intensive data analysis, a personal Dia stylist will hand select five items based on your style preferences and Dia&Co will deliver them straight to your door. You keep what you love and return what you don't — all for free.
Let’s break down the whole process so you can see just how hassle-free it really is.
How it Works
Step 1: Fill out your online style profile.
Go to dia.com and follow the prompt to start a style profile. Fill out a personal quiz covering everything from size and favorite colors to types of items you are looking for. (Note: Dia&Co offers clothing in sizes 14 to 32.) You want to be sure and fill this out as thoroughly as possible so that the stylists have as much information to style your monthly box.
Once this is complete, you will pay a $20 styling fee, which pays for your personal Dia stylist to curate a box filled with five clothing and accessory items just for you. Don't worry — this $20 fee will be applied to any items you purchase, which often ends up making the whole membership free.
Step 2: Get your style box
Once your stylist curates your one-of-a-kind box, it is shipped within the week, straight to your door step. As soon as it leaves the Dia warehouse you are prompted with an easy tracking link to follow along the way. When you receive and open the box, it’s wrapped in tissue paper and you are greeted with a personalized note from your Dia stylist with all of the items’ descriptions and prices. Now it’s time try out all of the amazing pieces to see how they work!
Step 3: Keep what you love
After you have tried everything on, it’s time to choose how many of the five items you want to keep. The service gives you exactly 5 days from when the package arrives at your door to make your decision. If you end up liking everything inside the box, it’s your lucky day! Dia&Co offers a 25 percent discount for purchasing the entire box. On the unlikely occasion that some things did not work out, don't fret. Easily pack the items you don't want and use the prepaid envelope Dia provides to send it back via any USPS blue mailbox or post office. Shipping is always on Dia.
How much does it cost?
Price is always a major factor when shopping, so how does Dia&Co stack up? Remember your $20 styling fee is immediately credited to any garment from your box that you end up purchasing. Each box is filled with five items costing on average $40 to $50 each, which makes the box total roughly $200. But remember, if you end up liking the entire box, you’ll receive a 25 percent discount on your entire purchase.
Why is it a good investment?
Think of how much time in your life you have wasted trying to hunt down clothing that not only works with your size and body shape, but also your budget. What’s great about this subscription service is that it takes the fuss out of shopping for cute plus-size clothing and brings 100 percent personalized style boxes straight to your front door.
You can also take comfort in knowing that 75 percent of Dia stylists are plus-size themselves so they understand the market and diverse body types. Your Dia stylists know how each brand’s sizes comparatively stack up and will send you your exact size according to your measurements, not just the number on the label. Shopping has never been so easy!
For those of you who are worried about committing to a subscription service, you shouldn’t. Unlike most subscription services, Dia allows you to “pass” any month and only order it as needed.
If you are someone who prefers a little extra control over what comes inside the box, there is a new feature that allows you to choose up to three items in your box before it gets shipped out. Being a member of Dia&Co also allows you access to one-of-a-kind collections like this new exclusive Betsey Johnson collaboration.

The Mod Shift
I went full ‘60s mod when styling this dress, and took cues from Edie Sedgwick herself by accessorizing the polka dot number with a white faux leather hat and matching white ankle booties. I wore a size 18 and belted the look at the waist to create a little more shape.
I love the romantic ruffle sleeves and hem details on this beautiful navy and yellow floral frock! It is the perfect summer dress to pair with a top bun and super chic sandals.
This is a must-have classic Betsey Johnson lip print dress tailored for any body type! The low cut neckline perfectly compliments the fit and flare bodice and midi skirt length.
Nothing quite says Betsey Johnson like a cherry print, and this 90s-style maxi dress looks extra edgy with combat boots and a denim jacket.
This bold, red floral print is guaranteed to turn heads and keep you comfortable all day and night.
