Good morning to everyone — except those who think it’s cool to body-shame an 18-year-old girl (or anyone for that matter).
Five-time Grammy winner Billie Eilish stepped out sans her typical loose-fitting attire recently, opting for a tank top and shorts. And while this should not be news-worthy in an of itself, certain social media trolls thought it their duty to comment on an 18-year-old’s body.
One user tweeted, “in 10 months Billie Eilish has developed a mid-30's wine mom body,” invoking the ire of the singer’s passionate fanbase.
Eilish’s followers came to her defense on the platform:
the way that porn and social media has taught men that bodies like billie eilish’s are “fat” and not perfectly normal

Billie Eilish is beautiful! PLEASE, do not body shame her, or anyone for that matter. Body shaming is not “news” or “gossip” it’s HARMFUL and UNACCEPTABLE.

Eilish herself appeared to address the body-shaming, sharing a video to her Instagram Story from YouTuber Chizi Duru with the title “Can We Normalize Real Bodies?” “Y'all gotta start normalizing real bodies, okay,” Duru said in the video. "Not everybody has a wagon behind them, okay? Guts are normal—they're normal. Boobs sag, especially after breastfeeding. Instagram isn't real."

In the past, the performer has noted that she wears baggy clothing for this very reason — to avoid scrutiny:
"I never want the world to know everything about me," she said. "I mean, that's why I wear big, baggy clothes — nobody can have an opinion because they haven't seen what's underneath, you know?"
