Blake Lively's latest red carpet date wasn't Ryan Reynolds
Blake Lively stunned in a clean white suit on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet on Monday night, but it was her date that had people talking.
The 30-year-old actress left husband Ryan Reynolds at home, instead opting to bring a trusted stand-in: her mom, Elaine.
Standing close to her daughter, Lively’s mom stunned in a a strapless black jumpsuit with a pendant necklace.
The “Gossip Girl” alumni wore a Ralph and Russo suit that included a blazer detailed with crystals, wide-leg trousers and a button down shirt. Keeping with the white theme, Lively also wore more than $2.5 million in Lorraine Schwartz white diamonds.

Her mom wasn’t the only family member in attendance — three others joined Lively on the red carpet, and posed for a photo before heading into the awards show.
This isn’t the first time the actress has brought her mom to a Hollywood event — and it makes sense. Her mom is a talent manager and actress herself, so she’s familiar with the scene.
In 2015, she attended the “Age of Adaline” New York premiere with her daughter, and in 2016, she was on hand when Ryan Reynolds received his Hollywood Walk Of Fame star. She even attended the Emmy Awards with Blake in 2009.

he mother-daughter duo also appeared at New York Fashion Week in both 2015 and 2016, and in 2017, Lively’s mom and two sisters joined her at an event for a L’Oréal launch in New York.
Lively, who is mom to two children, James and Inez, said the best part of being a parent is sharing the experience with her own mom.
“I really appreciate my mom more than I ever have, but don’t tell her, ’cause I don’t want her to get a big head!” she told E! News before the Michael Kors show at NYFW 2016.
As if we needed further evidence that Lively values family time over anything else.
