While over-the-top, flash-mob-friendly, the-quirkier-the-better wedding proposals are all the rage these days, some men, like New York Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire, are sticking with traditional romance when it comes to popping the question.

Paris? Check. Romantic serenade? Check. Intimate dinner? Check. Roses? Check.

Post it on YouTube? Check. It is 2012, after all.

Watch Stoudemire propose to Alexis Welch, his long-time girlfriend and mother of his three children, with a stunning custom 8.5 carat radiant-cut diamond ring below.

"I have been planning my proposal for a while and overlooking the entire Paris skyline seemed like a perfect place.  I am so happy she said 'yes,' and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife," Stoudemire tells PEOPLE.

"Having Amar'e ask me to marry him while overlooking the Paris skyline seemed like some sort of romantic fantasy," Welch tells Page Six. "Amar'e put so much care and thought into every detail to make it special for us. We are truly blessed!"

The happy couple plan to wed in 2013.

Other famous couples who got engaged in Paris include the now-defunct pairing of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, and newlyweds Grey's Anatomy star Sara Ramirez and her husband Ryan Debolt.
