Boygenius have won the award for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2024 Grammys for The Record, their debut album. Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus’ supergroup beat out fellow nominees Arctic Monkeys (The Car), Gorillaz (Cracker Island), Lana Del Rey (Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd), and PJ Harvey (I Inside the Old Year Dying).

This was one of seven Grammy nominations for Boygenius this year, and the third for The Record—which Pitchfork named one of the best albums of 2023—alongside Album of the Year and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. Their single “Cool About It” was nominated for Best Alternative Music Performance, while “Not Strong Enough” brought in three additional nods: Record of the Year, Best Rock Performance, and Best Rock Song—winning the latter two. This is the first time Boygenius have ever been nominated, and they heard the news together while rehearsing for their debut performance on Saturday Night Live.

Phoebe Bridgers got nominated for an additional award this year, separate from her music with Baker and Dacus in Boygenius: She won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance as the featured artist on SZA’s song “Ghost in the Machine.”
