Brad Pitt Might Win an Emmy for His Portrayal of Dr. Fauci

If you thought Brad Pitt was going to just stop his streak of winning awards at this year's Oscars, you are mistaken. This man's acting career is complex. So much so that he might win another award for his portrayal of Dr. Anthony Fauci during an episode of Saturday Night Live. That's right: The actor was, in fact, nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series category for the appearance.

Back in early April, InStyle cover star, Dr. Fauci joked that he would want Brad Pitt to play him if SNL ever decided to parody him. In a surprise move a few weeks later, Pitt actually did it. The three-minute clip was both funny and serious, nodding to the complexity of the moment. "Now, there is a rumor that the president is going to fire me," Pitt joked in full Fauci costume. "So yeah, I'm getting fired. But until then, I'm gonna be there putting out the facts for whoever's listening, and when I hear things like the virus can be cured if everyone takes the Tide Pod Challenge, I'll be there to say, 'Please don't.'"

The end of the sketch got more serious with Pitt dropping the act and taking off his wig. "To the real Dr. Fauci, thank you for your calm and your clarity in this unnerving time," Pitt said. "And thank you to the medical workers, first responders, and their families for being on the front line. And now, live — kinda — from all across America, it's Saturday night."
