The Brand Behind Katie Holmes’s Most Famous Outfit Is Having a Rare Sale at Nordstrom

Gwyneth Paltrow rang in the New Year by accidentally cursing and dropping a bottle of her latest Goop product on the floor. But before you go ahead and scream “relatable,” it’s worth noting her relatability begins (and ends) with her surprised face at the end of the video because of her sweater. The cream turtleneck with pagoda sleeves retails for $1,380 and is by Khaite, the brand behind Katie Holmes’s famous $2,060 cardigan-bra set.
Notably, Holmes also wore Khaite to ring in the New Year. No word yet on if it was accompanied by the F word and a broken bottle of fancy face oil, but considering 2020 is just 2021 with a new name, we can only assume the answer is yes. While out in New York with her daughter, Holmes wore a pair of Khaite Davis boots and the brand’s large leather crossbody bag. By some New Year miracle, the covetable designer brand is majorly marked down at Nordstrom even though its famous semi-annual sale ended yesterday.
Khaite is the type of brand that quietly entered the zeitgeist after Katie Holmes was spotted wearing its unexpected cashmere bra to hail a taxi just last summer (also known as 3,000 years ago). Holmes has worn Khaite multiple times since, and it’s clearly a go-to brand in her outfit rotation. But Kerry Washington, Rihanna, and most recently Gwyneth Paltrow have also succumbed to the simple luxury of the New York-based brand known for timeless, albeit expensive, staples that launched in 2016. A Khaite sale is rare, especially when the celeb-loved brand is known for selling out, which makes the hundreds of dollars markdowns at Nordstrom more than noteworthy.
Some discounted Khaite pieces that were on sale at Nordstrom this morning have already sold out, but there are still a handful of excellent items like a tuxedo blazer for $592 and a washed linen dress for $312 available. Retailers like Matchesfashion and Ssense also have a couple of pieces on sale with a pair of jeans for as little as $170. And while Nordstrom’s designer clearance sale with discounts up to 60 percent has been going on for some time, Khaite is bound to sell out shortly, or at least before Paltrow curses on social media again.
