This bride bought a matching wedding dress for her dog: 'She is my family'

Maybe most brides don’t want anyone else at the wedding to wear white. It’s certainly hard to imagine them wanting someone else to upstage them in a wedding gown of her own. But that’s what bride-to-be Jennifer Hindieh has chosen for her pit bull Bailey.

“I decided to get her a dress because honestly, she is my family, my baby and our life with her is what makes every day so special,” Hindieh told The Dodo. “I don’t know if I can ever have kids, but for me, she’s like my kid.”

As the adorable pup walks down the aisle with Hindieh and her father, she’ll be wearing a creamy white satin dress with a ruffled organza skirt and a pretty jeweled detail that retails for $156 on the Etsy boutique Coco and Bushka Couture. Hindieh calls the gown “fancier than mine” on her Facebook post.

We’ve seen plenty of dogs involved in wedding parties, though usually they’re adorned with flower collars or bowties. Canine wedding gowns seemed to be reserved for mock wedding ceremonies between pets, such as the elaborate wedding (and fancy fundraiser) of puppy mill survivors-turned-Instagram stars Toast and Finn. Toast wore a custom Marchesa to the event, and it’s honestly hard to imagine how a dog wouldn’t tear all that tulle to shreds in seconds.

But if seeing these pups in princess gowns inspires you, there are lots of places to buy your own canine of honor something to rival your own dress — most of them are under the budget of that Marchesa number.

For the truly budget conscious, there’s this dress and veil that sells for $11.24 on PetCo.

There are similar inexpensive options at Amazon, too. These seem like a good idea for a dog that might rebel and go off to roll in the mud at an inopportune moment.

Etsy is, of course, packed with wedding attire for dogs, both fancy and simple, much of it customizable or made to order to suit all puppy body types. (You can also get this bandana
as a wedding-day backup, because you never know.)

Got a little more money to lavish on your fur baby? Posh Puppy Boutique sells dresses with as many options as a human bridal salon, such as this $250 ball gown made of shantung silk, with a lace bodice trimmed with pearls. We imagine you need a very alert handler to keep that train out of dirt and, um, everything else that might happen on that end.

Just like in the human wedding industry, there seems to be some size discrimination going on here. None of the doggy models are bigger than a mini poodle, though some of the dresses have larger sizes listed. If someone would like to share a photo of their mastiff wearing this stunning $249 dress from The New York Dog Shop, featuring Swarovski-crystal-encrusted taffeta petals over layers of tulle and crinoline, the world would thank you for your efforts.

Until then, we’ll content ourselves with seeing Bailey elegantly represent her species and wish her and her parents good luck on the big day.
