Britney Spears's Brother, Bryan, Said That Her Conservatorship Is a "Great Thing"
Britney Spears's brother, Bryan, addressed fans and the #FreeBritney initiative, E! News reports. During an appearance on the As Not Seen on TV podcast, Bryan explained that it's "frustrating" to him and the Spears family to hear that fans are angry over the singer's conservatorship, because none of them actually know what's happening behind the scenes.
"It's very frustrating to have. Whether someone's coming in peace to help or coming in with an attitude, having someone constantly tell you to do something has got to be frustrating," he said.

Bryan added that his sister "always wanted to get out of" the conservatorship, which began back in 2008. However, he also added that it was a decision that the entire family made together. Britney's father, Jamie Spears, served as her conservator until 2019. Bryan described his role as a "sacrifice" that he was making for the family. E! News reports that Jodi Montgomery is temporarily serving as her conservator. She's a member of Britney's team.
"We kind of came together and not everybody agreed with it either; everyone had their own opinion like, maybe we should do it this way or that way," he said. "But, at the end, I think we made the right choice."

Courts will reevaluate Britney's legal status later this year and Bryan notes that the family is "hoping for the best," but he adds that it could be a shock to her, since she's had a team of people helping her with every aspect of her life since she was a teenager.
"She's been surrounded by a team of people since she was 15, so at what level does everyone just walk away or get reduced?" he said. "I'm sure it's going to be an adjustment."
