Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane reveals his lone criticism of star QB Josh Allen

There likely aren't many reasons for the Buffalo Bills to criticize star quarterback Josh Allen, but general manager Brandon Beane has one qualm.

Beane said he would like to see Allen take fewer hits and protect his body during games, according to an interview the GM gave to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, which is part of the USA TODAY Network.

"The only thing I'd get on to him is he's got too many bruises on him," Beane said. "And we've got to work on taking less hits. That's the only reason I'm ever going to criticize Josh is just take less hits."

Allen also has a relative tendency to fight through tackles for extra yards instead of giving himself up on plays. Considered a throw-first quarterback, Allen rushed for 762 yards this season and 124 of his 546 career rushing attempts came this season. He also took 33 sacks in 2022, which was the second-highest total in his career.

Allen, 26, played through an elbow ailment this season and helped lead the Bills to an appearance in the AFC divisional playoff round. The Bills are likely thrilled with the recent production they've received from Allen, but it appears Beane's top concern is keeping his quarterback healthy while Buffalo remains a perennial postseason contender.
