This $15 toner has been a game-changer for my adult acne

I recently turned 29 — and for the majority of my 20s, my skin looked worse than it did when I was a teenager.

You name it, I’ve tried it. ProActiv, Cetaphil and Neutrogena were some of the products I circled through in my early 20s. Later, when I had a bit more disposable income, I branched out into high end products that literally cost me hundreds of dollars. I’ve spent at least $2,000, if not more, on serums, cleansers, toners, moisturizers and masks which have never really cleared up my acne (and sometimes made it worse) — and I recently tried to come to terms with the fact that my skin is just always going to have spots.

A few months ago, I was purchasing a makeup brush cleaner on Amazon — and one of the recommended products was the Burt's Bees Rosewater Toner that I knew had fairly good reviews. I decided to buy it on a whim, since my tea tree toner from Lush was almost finished - and I’m so, so happy I did.

I’ve sort of been one of those people that didn’t really understand what toner really is but used it anyways since it’s one of those things you’re supposed to do.

The Burt's Bees Rosewater Toner showed me what toner is meant to do.

After cleansing, I apply the toner to a cotton pad and wipe my whole face. It’s amazing - and disgusting - how much dirt and residue come off onto the pad. Even if I haven’t worn makeup for a few days, the toner grabs debris off my face and leaves it squeaky clean. And, at just $15, it’s damn cheaper than many of the other products I’ve tried.

The product has an awesome rose scent, but it can be a bit drying. I always follow it up with Sunday Riley’s Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream which hydrates my face better than any product I’ve ever used.

After two months using this toner, I can honestly say it has been a game changer for my adult acne. I still get a few hormonal flareups around my period, but the little red spots that seemed to be a constant on my cheeks, nose and chin have all but disappeared.

Everyone, of course, has different skin and different skincare needs, but there have been plenty or rave reviews about this toner.

“I was never able to use a toner... until this came into my life!” wrote one happy customer on Instagram. “Love it! It doesn’t sting my skin, unless I have an open bump.. and it has done wonders for my adult acne.”

“Kept all my acne away and it smelled amazing while doing it,” said another.

“I love this toner!” raved one user. “The smell is wonderful in the mornings and it has really helped my skin. Thank you for your wonderful products!”
