Busy Philipps claps back at body shamer with a grammar lesson

Busy Philipps has no time for body shaming trolls — especially ones with bad grammar.

On Tuesday, the 39-year-old actress shared a workout selfie on social media, with an inspiring caption.

“Today is #TheAwesomeChallenge and my workout every morning makes me feel awesome (even on the days when I’d rather stay in bed, like today),” she wrote. “For every post using #TheAwesomeChallenge @RocketsofAwesome will donate back-to-school clothing to a @Baby2Baby child in need. Let’s do this!”

With more than 32,000 likes, Philipps’s post seemed to resonate with followers — with some exceptions.

“Ughhh, you’re rolls are showing,” wrote a nasty commenter.

Philipps was quick to shut down the body shamer by giving him a quick lesson in grammar.

“I feel like a man of your age should know the difference between YOUR and YOU’RE,” she wrote.

“YOUR is POSSESSIVE, as in ‘YOUR rolls are showing.’ (Get it? The rolls BELONG to me.) YOU’RE is an abbreviation for YOU ARE, as in YOU’RE CLEARLY AN A**HOLE BODYSHAMING LOSER.”

In an interview with Huffington Post last year, Philipps explained how she’s encouraging her daughters to love their bodies.

“Birdie’s recently gotten into rock climbing, which I love because it really makes her body feel strong,” she said. “And I try to emphasize in terms of body image that strength is so important, and feeling strong and good and healthy is really important.”

Admitting she’s been impacted by societal expectations on her body, the mom-of-two preaches the same empowerment to her daughters as she does her followers.

I’m not perfect. I’m also an actress. I succumb to a lot of things that I wish I didn’t in terms of body image and the way that I feel about myself. But we do the best we can, all of us,” she said. “And that’s ultimately what I hope my girls get across.”
