As consumers become more educated on the climate issues our planet is facing, it’s more important than ever for brands to react to the demand for ethical and sustainably-produced products.

Call It Spring is doing just that, and announced this week a collection of vegan footwear for men and women made from some unusual sources. Using materials like recycled water bottles and cushioning foam derived from marine algae, they’re doing their part to divert plastic from our landfills and water sources.

“Call It Spring’s decision to become fully vegan earlier this year was another part of the journey to create a better tomorrow, together for our customers and our planet,” shared Alyssa Whited, Call It Spring’s Global Director of Marketing.

“[This collection] evolved from a much larger conversation that has been in the works for many years about how we can advance and improve our brand standards, create a tangible impact on the environment and help empower our customers to do the same.”

All of the vegan suede and polyester linings in this new sustainable collection are made using recycled materials, helping to keep over 295,000 plastic bottles from the environment. Many of the insoles in this collection are made using BLOOM™ foam, a sustainable algae-based material as an alternative to traditional petroleum-based rubber.

As well as sustainably-made interiors, the exterior vegan leather used in this collection is also made with alternative production methods that not only use less chemicals to produce, but also uses less energy, saving over 58 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
