Cancer-stricken bride dies 18 hours after wedding
The internet is mourning the death of a young bride after she passed away less than a day after her wedding.
Connecticut native Heather Mosher married her fiancé David just days before Christmas, fearing that she wouldn’t make it to her planned wedding day of Dec. 30. Bridesmaid Christina Karas snapped a photo of the happy pair just moments after their “I dos” in the Saint Francis Hospital Chapel in Hartford, Conn.
“It reminds me of someone who is crossing the finish line of a marathon or something,” said Karas. “Nobody thought she would’ve made it that far. She proved them all wrong and that’s what that photo says to me.”

Just 18 hours after exchanging vows, Mosher passed away with her husband at her side.
The pair were inseparable after first meeting at a dance class in 2015. On Dec. 23, 2016, they got engaged after Mosher was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a romantic carriage ride, he popped the question under a streetlight.
Five days later, the couple’s lives changed forever when they discovered she was living with triple negative cancer – a rare and aggressive form of the disease.
By September, the cancer had spread to her brain — and just months later she was on life support with a breathing tube. Despite the dreary journey and timelines given by healthcare staff, the couple continued to fight on with a goal of making it to the wedding date.
As her health continued to decline, they arranged for a wedding on Dec. 22 — and her last words ever spoken were her vows to David. The next day, she passed away, exactly one year from the day they got engaged.

On Dec. 30, their original wedding date, Mosher said goodbye to his wife at her funeral, in the same church they were scheduled to get married in. Mosher said he was inspired by his wife, despite the challenging year they faced after their engagement.
“She’s my great love, and I’m going to lose her, but I’m not losing her forever,” he said.
“Heather said, ‘I want to keep fighting,’ so that’s the mantra I’m picking up. She was able to fight till the end, I’m going to fight until my end.”
