Candace Cameron Bure Swears by a 3-Step System for Radiant, Makeup-Free Skin at 44

From Woman's Day

When Candace Cameron Bure returned to television 12 years ago after a prolonged acting hiatus, her skin wasn’t in great shape. In fact, she told E! News that it was so discolored in certain areas that when she worked on Make it or Break it in 2009, the director repeatedly cut filming so the makeup artist could correct it.

“My pores were also enlarged so the makeup didn’t sit well,” she said. “I just didn’t look my best.” That’s when she called beloved Hollywood dermatologist, Dr. Harold Lancer, and she has religiously used his skincare ever since.

Below are the products that Bure says “repaired” her skin, and some additional skincare tips she swears by.

She sticks to three key steps: exfoliate, cleanse, moisturize.

The baseline for Bure’s improved skin is Dr. Lancer’s The Method: Polish, Cleanse, and Nourish products, and there are three different versions of each — one for normal to combination skin, one for sensitive, dehydrated skin, and one for oily, congested skin.

Polish is a chemical and physical exfoliating wash, Cleanse is a dirt and makeup removing foam cleanser, and Nourish is a hyaluronic acid moisturizer.

She never goes to sleep without a clean face.

“I never go to bed without taking my makeup off,” she told Us Weekly in 2017. “The best investment you can make is your skin because it’s really the first thing that people see.”

After cleansing and moisturizing, she applies eye serum.

In the form of Lancer’s 3D Hyaluronic Eye Serum. “I love this one in the morning because it de-puffs your eyes with this special applicator,” Candace explained to E!. “It’s nice and cool, you squeeze a little on and go under the eyes.”

She masks weekly and loves the boost of a beauty tool.

Depending on what her skin needs, Bure uses one of two mask-type treatments of Dr. Lancer’s every week. There’s the Caviar Lime Acid Peel, which offers extra polish and shine (“It’s like an instant facial,” she said. “This is what I use the night before I have a big photo shoot.”), and the Clarifying Detox Mask with Green Tea, which helps decongest and clear breakouts.

The Fuller House star also occasionally uses Lancer’s Pro Polish Microdermabrasion Device to really keep her skin looking its best. “This is everything. I screamed when it came out,” she exclaimed. “This is really deep cleaning, really getting the dead skin cells off.”

She always has a drugstore favorite on hand.

Vaseline! “[It’s] my go-to product that kind of works for a million things,” she told Us Weekly. “I use it on my lips, I can take off my eye-makeup with it. I can also put it on cuts.”

Hydration and sun protection are a must.

“I have the type of skin where I go out in the sun for five minutes, and I have a new sun spot on my face,” Bure told Us Weekly. She presumably uses Lancer’s SPF but didn’t specify. In an April interview with Good Housekeeping, she said she also started wearing sun-blocking gloves on long road trips to protect her hands. “It may look funny, but I would rather protect my skin!” she said.

She also makes sure to drink tons of water to keep her body and her skin hydrated. “I try to drink a lot of water throughout the day,” she revealed to Good Housekeeping. “I take my 32-oz thermos with me everywhere and aim to drink two of those.”

Sleep is also a priority.

“I don’t like to get less than seven hours of sleep a night, especially if I am working,” the actress told Good Housekeeping. “My goal is to get a minimum of eight hours, and if I can get nine, then I will take it.”
