I Can't Live Without This $16 Doggy Diaper Bag — Here's Why

From Woman's Day

When I rescued a puppy last year, I was completely overwhelmed - not by the accidents in the house, the chewed furniture, or the work that goes into training a nervous shelter dog, but by where to put all of his things.

Within a week of adopting Redford, my front porch (and life) had become a makeshift shrine to Chewy. I quickly realized that my jacket pockets were no longer useful for things like my phone, keys, or wallet because instead, they were stuffed with my dog’s must-haves like rolls of poop bags and fistfuls of treats for positive reinforcement training.

Space aside, a big problem with stashing treats in your pockets is that they quickly disintegrate into stinky, dusty remnants that linger deep in the seams for all of eternity. Enter this Oria Dog Treat Bag ($15.99) to save you from permanently reeking of beef jerky and from juggling your belongings with your dog's.

Let’s be clear about one thing: This bag is not a fashion statement unless the statement is “I have a dog!” But it’s durable, waterproof, spacious, and is one of those never-knew-I-needed-it products that makes my life so much easier.

It holds everything: This bag has two zippered pockets on either side to house my keys and credit cards, and two side pouches that fit smaller items like lip balm. The main compartment features a sewn-in drawstring closure, which is ideal for loading up with treats and toys for the park, and the elastic mesh pocket in front fits my iPhone perfectly.

It’s well-designed and functional: Its shoulder strap is adjustable, which means it can fit comfortably across my doggy co-parent’s body or mine. Alternatively, you can reconfigure the strap and wear it as a fanny pack for hands-free ease (fashion!).

It also has poop bag dispenser built in, which means you can toss that ugly, poorly-designed plastic leash attachment. The rubber outlet allows you to easily tear off one bag at a time, and you can stash backup rolls in the adjoining zippered compartment. Brilliant.

What it comes with: Because we know you love a good value, this bag comes with a collapsible water bowl on a carabiner, a training clicker, and a roll of poop bags.

While I'm always very proud to have The Cutest Dog in America, I'm also super excited about the "diaper bag" I schlep around for him. Even after an unattended Redford recently tore through the nylon drawstring to get to his treats, I had no qualms immediately re-buying this bag. It's that good.

Life just got a whole lot sweeter
