We can't wait to see what the Internet thinks about these lace-up shorts

What is going on with fashion at the moment?

We’ve only just got over last week’s bizarre lace-up jeans and equally as questionable lace-up dress which mums branded ‘an accident waiting to happen’

And now, it’s the turn of the humble shorts to be given a style-over.

Fashion Nova, the same brand bringing you those barely-there jeans, are now introducing lace-up shorts to the fashion world (whether it’s ready for them or not).

Much like the jeans, the ‘shorts’ consist of a teeny tiny piece of fabric and some string to tie them together (READ: keep them on!).

The Wild One Lace Up Shorts come in black at a cost of $32.99 (£24).

The unusually designed shorts are high waisted and feature a zipper on the back.

While the crotch and back protects your modesty (sort of) with nylon, the sides of the spandex shorts are made up with laces, which are meant to be tied up at the thigh.

But though the shorts may not be everyone’s cup of tea, they’ve already made one customer very happy.

“Super Cute!!! Money well spent!! I love them so much!” one shopper wrote in the review section.

Fashion Nova certainly aren’t the only fashion brand bringing us some questionable fashion of late.

Carmar, a Los-Angeles based denim brand, is now selling “extreme cut out” jeans that leave very little to the imagination.

While PrettyLittleThing are bringing us that fashion staple we didn’t know we needed – the denim thong.

Meanwhile, go-to brand ASOS shocked the style set by revealing their skirt-jeans hybrid.

The faux-pearl-encrusted skirt sits (un)happily on top of a distressed pair of jeans in some sort of nostalgic nod to the 90s, when everyone wore their dresses over trousers.

We know that fashion is subjective and all that but could we we at least try to get back to some semblance of style.
