Carrie Underwood Fans Slam the CMA Awards and Accuse the Show of Massive 'Snub"

The nominations for the CMA Awards are here, and country music fans are reacting to the news. While there are plenty of congratulatory messages going around, one category is causing a stir on social media because of a high-profile omission.

The competition for Female Vocalist of the Year is particularly stacked with talented women. Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, and Kelsea Ballerini all received nods for the honor. And while there's no denying that all of the nominees are deserving of the honor, Carrie Underwood's fans took notice.

Carrie's absence from the list is notable because she has been nominated in the category in 16 out of the past 17 years. She has taken home the award 6 times

The CMAs announced the news on X (formerly Twitter) and fans did not hold back their thoughts.

  • "Did Carrie Underwood not have a sold out tour & Vegas residency? Why wouldn’t she be nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year as the leading female in Country Music? @CountryMusic is an absolute joke"

  • "Stop snubbing Carrie Underwood #CMAawards"

  • "the BIGGEST woman in the entire genre is missing from the female category WTAF are these voters doing. I gave up on cma a while ago but this is just absurd. thrilled for Kelsea tho!"

  • "literally carries the genre on her back on the female side and y’all snub her in the female vocalist category. Make it make sense. She will out sing anyone in that category in her sleep"

  • "@carrieunderwood snubbed for female vocalist is a joke in itself. She deserves entertainer but the awards show is going to ignore her successful tours again."

Rest assured, Carrie was not entirely snubbed by the awards show. She received a nomination for the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, alongside Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson. Tune in to see who wins! The CMA Awards air on Wednesday, November 8, at 8 EST/7 CST on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu.
