Even Kate Middleton has the occasional fashion blunder.

The Duchess of Cambridge had a minor fashion wardrobe mishap during a recent visit to LEAP, an early education program in London.

At first glance, the 37-year-old royal appears totally on-trend in a $1,800 CAD lavender silk tie blouse from Gucci. However, upon further inspection, eagle-eyed fashionistas noticed that Middleton was actually wearing the shirt backwards!

While Middleton wore the blouse buttoned up at the front, all retail photos of the Gucci garment have the model wearing it buttoned up at the back.

Was the Duchess’s recent look a simple mistake or a fashion statement? Fans are divided.

“I think she had them tailor it to her specifications,” Twitter user Nicole Safran said. “She is basically their brand ambassador so one phone call to them and they would make a blouse especially for her.”

“I’m not keen on buttons on the back too, I would have chosen to do the same,” Philippa Holmes, a loyal Middleton supporter shared. “I think it looked much more elegant the way she wore it.”

Others took the opportunity to point out that other well known celebrities have had similar fashion slip ups.
